Size matters, not quantity

Every Project Forwarders looks for huge industrial Projects. Yet the qualification of an expert is in handling the details. Also 94 cbm from Korea to Bauan has its challenges.

Fracht Hong Kong, with the assistance of our Fracht Group Member Stamm International in the Philippines completed another Job well done.

Cargo:

Total 7 Wooden Crates with 11’810.0 KGS & 93.919 CBM

The biggest item had a measurement as follows:

410*410*452cm with 9’100 KGS

This was a bit a challenge due to the height of the Crate. But no challenge to big for Fracht so we provided the solution by 1 x 40’ Super Rack from Korea Pusan to Manila South Port. Once arrived at Manila South Port we had to Transload on to a low bed Trailer and moved it with escort to nearby Jetty at Baseco on to the awaiting LCT Barge for the final leg from Manila to Bauan International Port, BIPI.

Additional challenge was the recent bad weather in the Philippines so there was some hold ups for Transloading and the Barge could not sail too fast due to strong winds and the height of the largest crate.

With some more hours invested as anticipated, we managed to still deliver on time and Customer was satisfied with the solution provided.

Thanks to all involved and we are ready for the next one….

FWO MEETING IN INTERLAKEN

CEO, Ruedi Reisdorf, invited 150 delegates from some 40 countries to the 15th Fracht World meeting in Interlaken/Switzerland from 10th to 12th May. Again it was an assembly of bright minds from all continents sharing ideas and making inputs.  Among them seniors having worked  for the group for many decades as well as younger ones from emerging markets.
Investments and expansion in Africa, as well as new business models were among others  the subjects high on the agenda of discussions in 12 workshops at the historic Victoria Jungfrau Hotel.

An excursion to the Schilthorn was a highlight on the leisure side which  all enjoyed despite the fog, cold and zero visibility and renewed  the feeling “WE ARE FAMILY”. Awareness was strengthened: “FRACHT-nothing, that we cannot do” especially also among the younger generation who attended for the first time such an event.

Last week Polytra – Fracht significantly expanded its activities in South Africa by acquiring 51% of CARGO SERV.

CARGO SERV operates in DURBAN SOUTH AFRICA since 1994 – initially specialised in transport freight forwarding but since 2015 also a well-known and respected warehouse operator – offering more than 38 000 square meters of warehousing facilities.

CARGO SERV is a proud service provider for major African importers such as WFP – Michelin – Sumitomo and several Brewers and major mining companies in the Sub Saharan region. CARGO SERV also offers clearing solutions under its own clearing license – transport solution with its own trucking fleet and can handle both containers and project cargo with its own combilift and yard operations.

CARGO SERV currently employs 41 full time staff.  CARGO SERV currently has a BBEEE status of 2 but will most likely fall to 4 due to its rapidly increased turnover. Level 4 is still 100 % BBEEE compliance, which is an excellent standing.
